Biodiversity is the foundation for life and for the essential services provided by ecosystems. It therefore underpins peoples’ livelihoods and sustainable development in all areas of activity, including economic sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries and tourism, among others. By halting biodiversity loss, we are investing in people, their lives and their well-being.
The Killarney Declaration on Nature is an invitation to all people, including sports clubs, the hospitality sector, businesses, schools, churches in fact all sectors of society in and around the Kerry region to initiate plans for ACTIONS that will embrace the fact that biological diversity is essential to our continued development as a society.
This can be done by making clear decisions at the highest level to make changes to how and what we purchase/use. Simple steps that can be taken to support sustainable development can empower people to do more.
If you/your association/school//business would like to be involved and sign the Killarney Declaration on Nature please contact Tom Roche @ 086 8049389 to discuss how you can be part of the solution to the greatest challenge society has ever had to face.
